The Man, The Law, and the Outcome
My mother, Melinda, is married to Mike, my step-dad. They both have a son and daughter, which are my half-siblings. They mean everything to me, and I could never imagine a world without them, my family. However, the Man, as is said in the title, refers to Mike, my step-dad. This man has made some very unfortunate decisions, and has acted on those decisions decisively. Such decisions have completely altered the structure of the family, and has completely turned around their way of life. Because of this one man, the rest of the family is left to pick up the pieces, hope for the best, and fear for their future.
Mike is a interior designer, who has been receiving jobs from different avenues, all of which I have no knowledge of at this time, nor do I care at the moment. What I do care about is where those jobs have led him, and where those jobs have led the health of my family. Mike deals heavy with procrastination, laziness, and mood disorders, all of which serve a deep purpose (and you know me about finding core issues of problems), but which have obviously not been resolved.
Because of his lack of understanding that a job must be finished, money given to him from clients, disappear easily. Every time he received the money, he would purchase most of the supplies he needed to start a job, and then have nothing left over to finish it. The lack of business understanding and the problem of procrastination has led him into very hot water, all which has been completely loaded on to the family he has left.
Wait, what happened to him? Apparently, one of his clients had enough. They sued and somehow turned his case into a criminal lawsuit, when it should have been a civil court case. Either way, punishment does seem plausible in every mind, and justice and karma do find a way to right the wrongs in the world; at least, sometimes.
My Mom
Mike is now in jail, and my mom and my little brother and sister are now living in fear and sadness. They're afraid of another lawsuit coming at Mike, which cannot be paid, and they are in fear of losing their house and being out on the streets. Necessities like food, water, and electricity are being threatened to cease, and the worrisomeness and despair is, I'm afraid, not be fully expressed are done justice with what I am writing right now.
My mother is barely surviving on a very low income, in which she works every day, and hasn't the time to find another job. She takes high blood pressure medication already, and if you know me or have been reading my newsletters recently, you know my stand on such medication. The fact is, if she was already stressed before, the stress and despair she is experiencing now is unimaginable, and I am seriously worried about the health and wellness of my mom. She is barely feeding, dressing or providing the necessities of life for my brother and sister, who must wake up every day knowing that they don't have a father whom they can say “Good Morning” to anymore.
It doesn't help, either, that are Mike's customers are filing lawsuits against him, left and right, with no consideration for the rest of the family. Don't they realize that my mom and my brother and sister are suffering already from Mike's mistakes? Why add on to the confusion, agitation, and hopelessness that already exists? Is there hope? I believe so, and I see it in every one of you who are reading this right now.
The actions and decisions of Mike, in a perfect world, should have no effect and no detrimental side-effects on the rest of the family. However, this world is far from perfect, and unfortunately, my mom and my brother and sister must suffer for their father and husband's mistakes. Family and friends have done all they could, and cannot offer anymore but hope, kind words, and advice. Which is why I am turning to YOU, my dear and loyal customers, acquaintances, and friends.
